Mission statement

The Foreign Bankers Association (FBA) is the designated voice of a community of more than 50 global financial institutions operating in the Netherlands.

We promote and protect our members' interests and enhance understanding of their activities, and their contribution to the Netherlands' investment climate and Amsterdam's standing as a financial centre.

As an independent association, whose membership is culturally diverse but has common values, we help our members establish their businesses in the Netherlands and support them in their growth.

We are a forum for knowledge-sharing and networking and actively ensure our members' views are acknowledged in the deliberations of key stakeholders, including the Dutch Central Bank, European regulators and governments.

The FBA was founded on 17 September 1993 at the initiative of some of the world's leading banks. It was their goal to create a network that would support and guide them as they established and expanded their businesses in the Netherlands.

The association's official inauguration took place on 19 April 1994. It has since grown to become a professional network of more than 50 international banks and financial institutions.

We recognise public expectations and fully respect regulatory requirements, and are committed to operating transparently and communicating openly to promote and protect the interests of our members.
